Wall Street Bailout

The silver lining to the Government bailout on Monday led to a huge spike in bond prices, which in turn led to incredible improvements in rates all day. Those lucky souls that had returned their packages and were positioned for just such a moment, where able to lock at rates we haven’t seen in 8 months. As the week progressed, bonds were unable to sustain that rally and as of today mortgage rates improved only slightly from where they were last week. If you are sitting on the fence, don’t miss the next opportunity.

Our Question Concerning the Bailout

At Signature Home Equity Services, we would like to ask: Why is there no mention of the ability to short a refinance as part of the current FHA secure reform legislation that is already available, in this bailout discussion? The homeowner can stay in the house at a price that is affordable to the household, the lender receives some interest revenue, and foreclosure is not necessary. We invite your comments.
